ABOUT HELEN
ABOUT ME
In April 2017, I faced the sudden and unexpected loss of my partner, which threw me into a challenging mix of unfamiliar thoughts and emotions. Determined to understand my experience, I found comfort in knowing that what I was thinking and feeling was common. After a few months, I sought counselling, and it became a pivotal experience for me. In that safe environment, I could express my grief without fear of judgment, and work through my challenges, at my own pace. As I continued my sessions, I discovered a deeper understanding of myself. This journey led to significant personal growth, opening many different chapters and inspiring me to train as a counsellor. Today, I am committed to providing that same safe space for others, and to accompany my clients on their journey with the added depth of lived-experience. Witnessing their courage and their movement through change, whether through small victories or major transformations, is incredibly rewarding.
MY APPROACH
My therapeutic approach is humanistic, focusing on meeting you where you are—whether you’re ready to tackle emotional battles or need someone to sit with you in the darkness, so you don't feel alone. I collaborate with my clients to foster a safe environment for them to share their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. I recognise that each person is unique and I have yet to encounter two individuals with the same experiences. This understanding emphasises the importance of allowing clients the space to be their authentic selves, which in turn nurtures a strong therapeutic relationship. By tailoring sessions to meet individual needs, clients can feel empowered to explore themselves safely. Therapy is not about giving advice; it's about creating the space for clients to discover their own solutions to challenges, with my support alongside them. I would describe my style as down-to-earth, connected and warm, as I believe human-to-human connection is the most effective way to form a solid therapeutic relationship.
